San Jose Hilton at Centro Santa Maria

The San Jose Hilton at Centro Santa Maria is located adjacent to the San Jose International Airport on a hillside looking out over the city of Alajela. The design of the complex reflects the Costa Rican colonial heritage and architecture.

The project consists of a 250-room, 18,000 square meter Hilton International Hotel and 6,000 square meters of retail and office space. The hotel includes guestrooms and suites, dining services, conference and banquet facilities, a fitness center and tennis courts. The office building provides economical and convenient lease space for airport-related businesses.

Several structural system options were considered for the complex, including a structural steel framing system, a pour-in-place reinforced concrete two-way slab system, and a precast concrete floor with cast-in-place beams and columns system.  To maintain a lower overall building height due to the site's close proximity to the airport, the pour-in-place reinforced concrete two-way slab system was selected.
