Beverly Park - Getty South

Los Angeles, California

This five story office building is composed of two three-story portions located on the north and south ends of a two story podium.  Two upper portions are connected by a suspended glazed bridge which creates an open view through the bridge to the landscaped hillside beyond. The facility houses office and support services for the new Getty Center museum complex. The project won a prestigious architectural award for its unique architectural design.

The structural system consists of structural steel framing supporting metal deck slabs. The lateral system utilizes the innovative "dog bone" connection design in the moment frames.  This was one of the first applications of this technique following the 1994 Northridge earthquake. The foundation system utilizes drilled piers.
